Organised by the Rotary Club of Gladesville, The Ryde Rivers Festival is a celebration of the historical significance of the waterways to the City of Ryde, and will raise funds for The Ryde Hospital, Life Education and other Rotary projects. Commencing at 9am with the Fun Walk and Run there will be plenty happening all day.... including the spectacular DRAGON BOAT RACES, the Billy Cart Derby and a leisurely Family Cycle along the banks of River. Plenty of family entertainment, kids' rides, food stalls and many other displays. Dont forget to call into the 2RRR Stall for lots of goodies.

A History Week exhibition at the Brush Farm House Open Day will feature photographs taken a century ago when a Carpentarian Boys Reformatory School was located there. The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) has a range of information and services available to support voters with a disability to ensure their vote in the 2010 federal election on August 21, 2010. A new initiative at the election, telephone voting, is now available at 125 locations across Australia to allow voters who are blind or have low vision to cast a secret vote.
This service is available both before and on election day in all AEC divisional offices and other selected locations listed at http://www.aec.gov.au Polling places with disabled access are shown at http://www.aec.gov.au including identifying those that are fully accessable, or accessable with assistance. Each polling place also has at least one wheelchair access table top voting screen. People who are deaf, or have a hearing or speech impairment can use the National Relay Service (NRS) to call the AEC. Residents of Hunter's Hill local government area are being encouraged to attend one of two community forums to help determine the Hunter's Hill 2030 Community Plan, which outlines the council's future direction and community priorities. The information must come from residents.Forums to address action needed to ensure the long-term sustainability of Hunter's Hill Council are on at:

Ryde State Emergency Service is looking for new volunteers to assist in their Operations Centre at Macquarie Park. The Operations Centre is responsible for answering calls during emergency situations as well as allocating tasks, co-ordinating teams, managing radio communications and general administration of the Ryde unit. There are many office based tasks that are suitable for volunteers of all ages. The SES provides full training to interested volunteers. No previous experience is required and people of all levels of ability are welcome.
