The emphasis is mostly on the easy-listening music of the era before the arrival of rock and roll and which also continued beyond. Regular features may include tributes to particular artists, interview excerpts, songs from the 20s or 30s revived in the 40s, 50s or 60s, songs that topped the charts 60, 70 or 80 years ago – and more!

We take an in-depth look each week at a particular aspect of the music of the 1940s, 50s or 60s. Each “Special” may feature a specific artist, event, anniversary, Broadway show, Hollywood musical or other theme. It’s also an opportunity to take a detailed look at the history of a particular aspect of the era and re-discover forgotten artists and songs.

12pm – 2pm

If it swings, there’s melody, a beat then I’ll play it. The program will be mainly jazz taken from the years 1940 – 70 but we must remember our roots and future! I hope you enjoy some uplifting music in the middle of the day to carry you through the afternoon and beyond.

Original recordings are used. A monthly special highlights a personality or a band or, perhaps, a type of music or dance. This program began in March 1978!

Radio Comedy Retrospective

Radio Comedy has become somewhat of a lost artform. However, many TV stars such as Rowan Atkinson and Steve Coogan first received their laughs via radio. 2RRR brings back to life the on-air silliness and satire of Radio Comedy Classics from BBC Greats to the Goon Show and other oddities.

Dossier On Dumetrius

Dossier on Dumetrius is one of Grace Gibson’s best-loved and most successful ‘spy’ serials. It introduced Major Gregory Keen of MI5, the forerunner to James Bond. It is the first of five stories featuring Keen as the central character.
