Prominent City of Ryde Independent Councillor Roy Maggio joined Natalie and ‘Hendo’ on the Morning Mix this week, discussing a range of controversial topics less than 10 weeks out from the council elections.

Mr Maggio said Ryde Council faced a number of difficult challenges, which could only be overcome through a collaborative approach from the whole Council.

These included the futures of the Civic Centre and Argyle Centre. Both have been left to languish for several years while the Council debates their futures.

“I’m not pointing fingers at anyone; we just need to work together as a Council and resolve them for the benefit of the community,” he told 2RRR.

Mr Maggio also said that meeting the State Government target of 11,600 new homes in the Ryde Council area by 2029 would be a considerable challenge, which would have to include a joint apartment and Council offices co-development of the old Civic Centre site.
