2RRR attended Kissing Point Wharf last week for an inaugural ‘Armenian Republic Day’ flag-raising ceremony, a poignant commemoration of establishing the first Armenian Republic in 1918. This historic day stands as a testament to the courage and resilience of Armenians, including women and the elderly, who valiantly took up arms to defend their homeland from invading Ottoman forces.

Looking ahead 106 years, The City of Ryde proudly hosts a thriving Armenian population. The event was graced by the presence of prominent community leaders, including councillor Sarkis Yedelian, Ryde Mayor Trenton Brown, and City of Ryde GM Wayne Rylands, all of whom delivered heartfelt speeches.
