We listen to and talk about the popular music and the artists of the 1940s, 50s and 60s & also re-discover forgotten artists and songs. The emphasis is mostly on the easy-listening music of the era before the arrival of rock and roll and which also continued beyond. Regular features may include tributes to particular artists, interview excerpts, songs from the 20s or 30s revived in the 40s, 50s or 60s, songs that topped the charts 60, 70 or 80 years ago – and more!
In our second hour, we usually take an in-depth look each week at a particular aspect of the music of the 1940s, 50s or 60s. Each “Special” may feature a specific artist, event, anniversary, Broadway show, Hollywood musical or other theme. It’s also an opportunity to take a detailed look at the history of a particular aspect of the era and re-discover forgotten artists and songs.
You can also hear a two hour repeat on Fridays at 2pm.

Program Description of Latest Shows:
10am Wednesday, 18th May, 2022 and Repeat 2pm Friday, 20th May
We open with an election song and a comedy political speech, then reminisce about the careers of British singer Jackie Trent and American vocal group The Lettermen. At a quarter to the hour we begin a 75 minute Special in tribute to Perry Como on the 110th Anniversary of his birth on 18th May, 1912. His manager, orchestra leader, and his daughter fondly reminisce about him.
10am Wednesday, 11th May, 2022 and Repeat 2pm Friday, 13th May
This week we sing and dance to 3 songs, listen to two songs addressing girls formally by their last names, hear a medley of songs by Ben E. King, celebrate Tommy Roe’s 80th birthday on 9th May, and reminisce with our revived song “The Darktown Strutters’ Ball”.
10am Wednesday, 4th May, 2022 and Repeat 2pm Friday, 6th May
This week we consider different words used to refer to mothers, we celebrate the 100th anniversary of Deanna Durban’s birth, the 103rd of Pete Seeger’s, and the 86th birthday of Elgelbert Humperdink.
10am Wednesday, 27th April, 2022 and Repeat 2pm Friday, 29th April
Regular listeners will recall that two weeks ago we had a 90 minute Special in tribute to Bobby Rydell who died earlier this month, just a few weeks short of his 80th birthday. So Tuesday this week, 26th April, is the 80th anniversary of Bobby’s birth, and a good reason to pay an additional tribute to Bobby. This time, we feature an interview that Bobby did with popular Sydney radio presenter Bob Rogers when Bobby was visiting Sydney in 2007 .
10am Wednesday, 20th April, 2022 and Repeat 2pm Friday, 22nd April
This week in our first hour we have our segments with songs from “long, long ago” and the names of girls. We also have songs from three Italian-American singers: this week Tommy Leonetti, Toni Arden and Ezio Pinza.
