On Tuesday, February 10, Natalie de Silver welcomed the Mayor of Hunters Hill, Zac Miles, on The Morning Mix for a discussion on the latest local news and community updates.

The Gladesville Shopping Centre Masterplan has received its gateway determination for the planning proposal from the New South Wales Government; approving this masterplan towards its next stage. The masterplan’s planning proposals will be shortly published on the ‘NSW Planning Portal’ for public exhibition. Once public, all individuals of our local community are encouraged to express their utmost feedback towards the scheme.

“We are working actively with the shop owners, with Coles; the new owner of the centre, and we are going to make sure that this is dragged into some semblance of order so this project can move forward very soon,” said Mayor Zac Miles.

As per Miles, there will most likely be a public forum in the current Gladesville Shopping Centre during the process allowing the community to publicly discuss their opinions, expectations and feedback. A date has not been publicly announced.

“Once the plans are on exhibition– have a look, consider them fully, think about what benefit this is going to bring to the community and certainly give us your feedback. Because all of that feedback will be collated before we make an ultimate determination.”

In other news, the Old Commonwealth Bank Building on Victoria Road, Gladesville– yes the beautiful art-deco building will soon be transformed into a Plus-Fitness as per the Development Application (DA) outside the building. I’m sure many of us residents are thinking… how many more gyms could Gladesville possibly need?

Miles responded to this new announcement stating, “Anything that allows for those buildings not to fall into deterioration and dilapidation is a good thing. As long as it’s done properly… I’ll wait and see what the application looks like.”

On the contrary, many local residents are happily celebrating as the ‘Woolwich Marina Project’ was rejected by the ‘Land and Environment Court of NSW’ on December 19th 2025.

According to the Connect Hunters Hill Website, this development aimed to provide “alterations and additions to the existing Woolwich Marina to expand the berthing facilities from 45 to 79 berths to enable a range of different vessel typologies.”

Miles commented, “It’s going to be interesting to see how it precedes, or if it precedes, or if anything comes back to council. I would say that if there is another application, that it has to have community benefit, front of mind.”
